The concept of outerwear eludes me as it is usually 75 degrees on Christmas Day in La La Land but, as my car thermometer reads in today at 63 degrees, we might as well dig up the old wool CK coat (even if just for a day). I'll dream about the rest. Hopefully, my dreams will be as vivid as these precious pieces.
My obsession with leather shorts knows no bounds. Funnily enough, I don't even own a pair yet--yet being the operative word. Go figure. I try and try them on but cannot commit until I find the perfect pair--tailored in the waist, a slight flare, not too short (and not too long, of course). Pleats are okay but not necessary. To wear with bare legs in spring and with tights in the fall, nothing could make me more sartorially satisfied. Observe the photos below and you'll understand my fascination.
The navy/black combo has always been super chic but now it's getting a little modern makeover. Today's look is a bit more streamlined and buttoned up. The classic pea coat is slightly more fitted and the pants are even skinnier. Pair this with a killer, strappy heal or a chunky motorcycle boot and you'll add edge and glamour to a traditionally French ensemble.
It's not easy to find a good barstool. Often they are too bulky, not substantial enough, or the legs are too wobbly. And they are almost never comfortable. That's okay though. We don't need them to be cushy. We just need them to look cool. These very much do.
It's still scorching hot here in LaLa Land so, for inspiration, this is a flawless street style look of the day. I love the combination of the relaxed tank, black bralette, and the extra long boot cut trousers in red no less. The chic bag and casual shoes give it a perfectly laid back California flare.
Of all the fabulous decorating jobs I've witnessed over the years, Jenni Kayne's Beverly Hills home might be my very favorite. From the natural wood elements to the comfortably modern aesthetic, it is down right perfect. She tackled the difficult task of marrying simple clean lines with plush fabrics while remaining kid friendly and cozy. The result is elegant, fun and unpretentious.
